Since 2012, sharing the link of an Instagram post on Twitter does not display any thumbnails. But while there was nothing to suggest an about-face on this point, a welcome announcement was made last night.
And it is quite naturally on its Twitter account that Instagram was delighted with the return of the preview of the photos on the network.
Already available on Android, iOS, and desktop
As a reminder, Instagram decided to cut the floodgates in 2012 after noticing a drop in clicks on links shared on Twitter. It makes sense: if you can see the photo directly in your Twitter feed, why open Instagram?
This is why the previews offered in this “new version” will be limited to small images. You will be able to understand what the subject of the photo is, but will still be invited to open the link to view it in full size.
The good news, therefore, should save a certain number of unnecessary back and forths between the two applications. This change is already active on the iOS, Android, and Web versions of Twitter.
