How to install and open APK archive on Android
APK archives are on every Android, they constitute the application installation archives. When you use Google Play, they're invisible, but when you install other apps that aren't there, you have to use them. Do you know how to install and open them? We explain it to you!
We will explain to you how you can install APK archives on your device with Android. But before we get into the thick of it, there are two prerequisites that must be met if you want to install an APK that is not from Google Play. The first condition is to give permissions to the operating system if your version of Android is older than 8.0. an in the Settings of your phone or tablet (the appearance of these menus may vary by device).
Access the Security menu.
Look for the entry Allow installation of apps from unknown sources (or something similar) and activate the function by tapping on it.
If your phone or tablet is Android 8 or later, this setting is not necessary. The same operating system will ask you for permission with each download in order to install.
The second condition is not essential, but recommended, you must deactivate Google Play Protect. This function scans applications for security issues and may prevent the installation of applications determined to be overzealous in safeguarding our security. To turn it off, enter the app in Google Play Store and tap on the icon with the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
Choose Play Protect.
Tap the icon in the shape of a wheel in the upper right corner.
Disable the Scan device for the security threats option by turning the switch to the left.
Confirm the setting on the window to Ok.
This way, you make sure that every application that is not from Google Play can be installed normally. However, always download your apps from trusted sources to avoid security issues.
To install an app on Android, download the application file to install. You can use several sources, like our site. Just visit the page of the app you are interested in and press the Download button.
When the download is finished, the archive will be available in your downloads folder, locate it and tap on it to start the installation. If you are careful, you can also launch the installation directly from the system notification that appears at the top of the window when the download is complete. Press Open.
Tap the Install button in the lower right corner. Remember that if you have never done it before, the system will ask you for the necessary permissions to install applications from the browser. This is a setting that you will only have to apply the first time and that you can reverse from the Android settings.
The app will open after a few seconds. An icon is created in the menu of your applications, but you can launch it directly from the Open button.
From this moment, each time you want to open the application, you just have to look for its icon in the menu of the applications installed on your operating system.
