Google Play Music is the alternative to Spotify that allows you to buy MP3 songs and access a catalog of millions of songs of all kinds.

Unless you're my grandmother, you well know that online music streaming has revolutionized the way we enjoy our favorite songs and bands, right through to MP3 (well, actually my grand- Mother just got to the CD).

With Spotify in mind, there are various services that offer millions of songs in their catalogs, accessible through a simple Internet connection: the Swedish mentioned, Apple with Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, Rdio, Tidal (which offers sound in Hi-Fi quality) and it could not miss Google, obviously.

The Google Play Music app began as iTunes, an online music store where you can buy and download full discs or songs as MP3s. But the system is evolving to adopt the streaming business model to offer a large catalog of music to all users.

So, to its store and manager of music files, you have to add the features to listen to music on the go on your Android, whether on smartphone or tablet, among the only download of the APK file.

Google Play Music vs Spotify: which is better?

Personally, I prefer Spotify. The price is about the same, but the Swedish app has the option of being able to run in trial mode, not Google's. They cost around € 10 per month for an individual subscription and € 15 for a family which admits 6 users simultaneously.

Another aspect that shifts the balance in Spotify's favor is its desktop app for the PC. While these offer versions of their player for Windows and Mac (in addition to iPhone and iPad, of course), Google's does not. However, you can open the service from the browser and listen to your MP3 song collection anywhere.
