Utilizing only a snapshot, PlantNet enables you to recognize wild plants. All you have to do is take a photo of the plant or some of its parts and compare it to the database.

With PlantNet, you may use your smartphone as a plant identification tool. This Android software, created by researchers from CIRAR, INRIA, IRD, INRA, and the Tela Botanica network, uses the camera on your phone to compare photos of the plants included in its database.

Just one image to identify a plant 

If there are sufficient references for a plant in the database, it will be automatically identified. The latter one accepts donations from any user who wants to assist with new plants so long as they are properly registered.

How is PlantNet put to use? 

Make use of the camera on your phone and adhere to these steps to identify the plant you are looking at: 

  • Take pictures of the instrument both alone and against neutral backdrops.
  • Use with untamed plants.
  • Plant with a GPS tag.

Additionally, it includes a space for your own observations and the option to browse other people's comments.
